Climate Resilience Regional Challenge Grant
In 2024, the Collaborative was awarded a Climate Resilience Regional Challenge grant from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), funded by the Department of Commerce and NOAA through the Inflation Reduction Act.
This 3-year grant will support the following objectives:
01
Promote shared learning and accelerate climate preparedness through increased engagement activities and creation of technical resources.
02
Support climate preparedness work in smaller and less-resourced jurisdictions and Tribes via creation of a Small Communities Cohort Program.
03
Increase regional understanding of climate change impacts on Tribes and Tribal treaty rights through creation of a Tribal Partnerships Learning Series.
04
Support local efforts to engage with and build community partnerships that increase community resilience including the creation of the Climate and Communities Learning Series
05
Inform and support stronger regional alignment in climate preparedness goals and outcomes in the Puget Sound basin.
Steering Committee
The Collaborative’s Steering Committee guides implementation of the NOAA Climate Resilience Regional Challenge grant. The committee brings together 10–15 members from across the Puget Sound region—representing local and Tribal governments, frontline communities, and organizations of all sizes and experience levels in climate preparedness.
The Steering Committee provides strategic direction, approves work plans, identifies opportunities for collaboration and funding, supports evaluation, and helps advance the Collaborative’s regional resilience goals.
