Coastal Adaptation Planning Essentials (CAPE) Training
Many communities know they need to plan for changing future conditions, but many don’t know where to start. Attend the Coastal Adaptation Planning Essentials virtual training from NOAA on April 29-30 from 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM each day to receive an overview of a five-step adaptation planning process with a focus on coastal adaptation. These lessons can be applied to general climate planning, but the case studies will be focused on coastal hazards. Attendance is fully virtual, free, and no prior experience is required.
Participants will learn to:
· Organize preliminary steps for planning
· Consider information sources to better understand local changing conditions
· Describe aspects of vulnerability and approaches to scoping a vulnerability assessment
· Identify and select different types of adaptation options
· Discuss a pathway for taking action
Registration is open to Collaborative members and practitioners in local jurisdictions and the registration link has been sent out through the Collaborative's listserv. If you are not on the Collaborative's listserv or a Collaborative member, please email to request to join.
