Adaptation Planning for Coastal Communities (APCC) Training

Many communities have taken steps to understand their future vulnerability as conditions change, but moving forward with a cohesive plan to adapt often remains a challenge. Attend the in-person Adaptation Planning for Coastal Communities training from NOAA on June 2nd (9 AM – 5 PM) in Olympia to learn more about this key transition from vulnerability assessment to adaptation. These lessons can be applied to general climate adaptation, but the case studies will be focused on coastal hazards. Time is provided to work through locally relevant examples, interact with fellow practitioners, practice applying what you’ve learned, and collaborate with local partners.

Participants will learn to:

·       Apply the elements of an adaptation planning framework to organize future preparedness efforts

·       Explore local vulnerabilities based on an existing assessment

·       Interpret and apply results of a vulnerability assessment to inform adaptation priorities

·       Identify, compare, and prioritize locally relevant adaptation strategies and actions

·       Organize adaptation options into a cohesive long-term strategy using an adaptation pathways approach

Registration is open to Collaborative members and practitioners in local jurisdictions and the registration link has been sent out through the Collaborative's listserv. If you are not on the Collaborative's listserv or a Collaborative member, please email to request to join.
