As climate change creates new environmental baselines and drives extreme weather events, communities are having to adapt how they design and build their infrastructure. At the same time, communities are struggling with how to integrate climate change considerations into their capital planning process. 

Join the Puget Sound Climate Preparedness Collaborative for an in-person workshop on Monday, Oct 26, 2026 in Seattle that bring together professionals in the capital planning space to discuss how to integrate climate preparedness and resilience into the capital planning process. This workshop will build on the Building Better Part 1 capital planning webinar hosted by Collaborative in June 2026 (see webinar slides).

The series seeks to engage staff involved in capital planning and adaptation practitioners who have been working on integrating climate change into capital planning or who are ready to engage on that task. The workshop aims to: 

• Via case studies and peer discussion, develop a more robust understanding of common barriers and potential paths forward for integrating climate change into capital planning. 

• Support peer networking between communities engaged in climate resilient capital planning.

Who should attend? Local, Tribal, and state government staff or other individuals engaged in capital projects planning and/or who have been working on integrating climate change into capital planning, or who are ready to engage on that task. This can be capital projects in various program areas, ranging from roads to municipal facilities to stormwater parks.
